以厦门地区夏季播种的抗热松花型台湾花椰菜Brassica oleracea var. botrytis品种为材料,比较各品种生物学性状、营养成分、矿质元素、能源、植物功能性指标,并以低能高营养的消费原则,采用平均隶属函数值对品种进行评价。结果表明,平均隶属函数值依次为‘雪松’(4.805) >‘香雪’(3.282) >‘雪丽’(2.279) >‘庆农S90’(1.037)。结合生育期考虑,‘雪松’为夏季较适合在厦门地区推广的松花型花椰菜抗热新品种。  相似文献

Report cards are an increasingly popular method for summarising and communicating relative environmental performance and ecosystem health, including in aquatic environments. They are usually underpinned by an Ecosystem Health Index (EHI) that combines various individual indicators to produce an overall ecosystem health “score”. As a result of public water quality concerns, an integrated means of monitoring and reporting on aquatic ecosystem health was needed for the Fitzroy Basin in central Queensland, Australia. The Fitzroy Partnership for River Health was formed to address this need, and developed an EHI and report card for the Basin using existing monitoring data collected from various third parties including regulated companies operations and government. At 142,000 square kilometres, the Fitzroy Basin is the largest catchment draining to the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef. The Fitzroy Basin provides an example of how to deliver an effective aquatic ecosystem health reporting system in a large and complex river basin. We describe the methodology used to develop an adaptive EHI for the Fitzroy Basin that addresses variability, complexity and scale issues associated with reporting across large areas. As well, we report how to manage the design and reporting stages given limitations in data collection and scientific understanding.  相似文献

Summary Previous work has shown that host choice by acridids (grasshoppers and locusts) is sensitive to alterations in host quality. In particular, reduced plant water content has been found to increase palatability of certain plant species. To determine if this phenomenon is general, and to gain preliminary information on causes, turgid and wilted plant material of forty-one species was tested using nymphs of the desert locust, Schistocerca gregaria. Twelve plant species (29%) had increased and five (12%) had decreased palatability (as measured by meal size) when wilted. Among fifteen families tested, the increases occurred in six, the decreases in three. The greatest change occurred in Taraxacum officinale; further tests on this plant revealed the increase to be continuous, rising with decreasing water content. The behavioral observations combined with the pattern of the results across plant species suggest that changes are due to alterations in specific deterrents or stimulants, rather than to decreased water content or increased concentrations of amino acids and/or sugars. The implications of these results for understanding drought-associated population outbreaks are discussed.  相似文献

Summary The effect of salinity on the quality of various agricultural crops has not yet been explored much. This information is very important to Israel due to the increasing use of saline water for irrigation. This paper reports the effect of saline irrigation water on the quality, especially the taste, of several crops. Fruits from a processing tomato cultivar exposed to various degrees of salinity had higher values for total soluble solids (TSS) and acidity than their controls. The yield of fruit after saline water irrigation is lower, but this is offset by the nigher fruit quality and its consequent higher value. Melon fruits from plants subjected to saline water scored higher in taste than their controls when the fruits were analyzed fresh. After 3–4 weeks of storage at room temperature, there was no longer any difference in taste. Even though salinity slightly increased the TSS content, this did not correlate with the taste scores. Iceberg lettuce grown with saline water did not significantly differ in taste from its control, even when the sensitive triangle taste test was used. The same was true for peanuts. Thus, for these two crops no advantage of better quality would compensate for possible lower yields. Salinity had little effect on the yield of two varieties of Chinese cabbage, but increased the frequency of tipburn.  相似文献

Male secondary sexual characters may have evolved as intra-or intersexual signals of male phenotypic or genetic quality.In birds, singing performance may have the function to honestlyreveal health and vigor of individual males. Infectious diseasesand poor body conditions would therefore be expected to negativelyinfluence singing performance. Since bird pathogens are knownto elicit both a humoral and a cell-mediated immune response,it can be predicted that a negative relationship exists betweensinging performance and activity of the immune system. Thisprediction was tested for the first time in this correlationalstudy. The relationships between song rate and features andhematological variables (concentration of leukocytes in peripheralblood, ratio of gamma-globulins to total plasma proteins, bloodcell sedimentation rate, hematocrit) and body condition wereanalyzed in a population of bam swallows (Hirundo rustica).Song rate was negatively correlated with lymphocyte concentrationand with the ratio of gamma-globulins to plasma proteins. Spectrographicanalysis showed that features of song were not significantlycorrelated with hematological variables or body condition. Thelevel of circulating testosterone was not correlated with songrate nor hematological variables. This study is the first toshow a correlation between a bird's singing performance andhematological profile and suggests that song rate of male barnswallows may reflect their health status. Song in this speciesmight thus have evolved because it allows prospecting femalesto assess aspects of phenotypic and/or genetic quality of potentialmates  相似文献

The nature and persistence of seed quality effects produced by a range of seed production treatments was investigated in the autumn-sown onion crop. Genotypically equivalent seed lots raised in different glasshouses within the same year were found to germinate at significantly different rates. The seed lot which emerged earlier produced larger seedlings and this difference in size persisted throughout the growing period. In a comparison between the effects of hand crossing and self-pollination techniques the hand crossing method produced a much lower total seed yield but heavier seeds and larger plants. The induced effects persisted throughout the year but were not significant in the mature bulb characters. The implications of these results upon the control of seed production for plant breeding and genetical experiments is discussed.  相似文献

Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) stems in the Negev Desert of southern Israel are subject to mass infestations by stem sawflies larvae, primarily Trachelus tabidus F. (Cephidae, Hymenoptera). Infestations up to 55% and 50% in wheat and barley, respectively, were found in 1982/83. In addition, up to 8.6% of wild oat (Avena sp.) stems were cut by sawfly larvae in June 1983.The phenology of the insects was studied in 1981 to 1983 using yellow watertraps to catch adults and by dissecting infested stems to establish the pre-imaginal stages. Adults emerged at the end of February at magen and at the beginning of March at Gilat. Eggs and newly emerged larvae appeared in April. Larvae in diapause were found in cut stubs at the end of April and beginning of May. Pupae were found at the end of January and February.Of the sawfly specimens trapped in 1982 and 1983, the great majority was identified as T. tabidus and less than 5% as Cephus pygmaeus (Cephidae, Hymenoptera). The males of the sawflies appeared 4–6 days before the females, and were less numerous than them.About 12% of the larvae were parasitised by Tetrastichus sp. (Chalcidoidea, Eulophidae) in wheat, barley and wild oat, and about 4% by Collyria sp. (Ichneumoidea, Ichneumonidae) in wheat and barley stubs.
Résumé Les tiges de blé et d'orge subissent des attaques massives de tenthrèdes dans le désert du Négev au Sud d'Israël. Des attaques atteignant 55 et 50,4% ont été observée respectivement sur blé et orge en 1982/83.De plus, jusqu'à 8,6% de tiges d'avoine sauvage ont été coupées par les larves de tenthrèdes en juin 1983.La phénologie des insectes a été étudiée de 1981 à 83 en utilisant des pièges jaunes pleins d'eau pour capturer les adultes et en disséquant les tiges attaquées pour déterminer les stades préimaginaux.Les adultes ont émergé à fin de février et au début mars. Les oeufs et les larves sont apparus en avril. Les larves en diapause ont été trouvées dans les souches coupées à la fin de janvier et en février.La grande majorité de Cephidae adultes piégés en 1982 et 1983 a été identifiée Trachelus tabidus F., Cephus pygmaeus L. correspondait à moins de 5%. Les mâles de tenthrèdes sont apparus 4 à 6 jours avant les femelles qui étaient plus nombreuses.Environ 12% des larves étaient parasitées par un eulophide (Tetrastichus sp.) sur blé, orge et avoine sauvage, tandis que 3,6% l'étainent par un ichneumonide (Collyria sp.) dans les souches de blé et d'orge.

With many advantages, many ecological parameters of protozoan communities have been successfully used as a useful bioindicator for bioassessment of water quality in Chinese marine waters. However, as regard the response of the annual cyclicity of protozoan communities to seasonal environmental stress, a further investigation was needed. In this study, the cyclicity of annual variations in community patterns of biofilm-dwelling protozoa was studied based on an annual dataset. Samples were monthly collected, using glass slide method, at four stations, within a pollution gradient, in coastal waters of the Yellow Sea, northern China during a 1-year period. The cyclicity patterns of the microbiota represented a significant spatial variation among four stations. The low value of cyclicity coefficients occurred in heavily polluted area, while the high values were in less stressed areas. Correlation analysis showed that the cyclicity measure was significantly related to environmental variables ammonia, transparency and dissolved oxygen. Thus, it is suggested that the annual cyclicity of protozoan communities may be used as a potential bioindicator of bioassessment in marine ecosystems.  相似文献
